What exactly is "The Fourth Wall"? The fourth wall is a sort of 'fourth dimension' to being in character, such as when a character addresses the viewer. One of the most memorable instances is when Porky Pig says "That's all folks!". It means your character is aware that they're not living in the real reality.
fourth wall noun the space that separates a performer or performance from an audience. the conceptual barrier between any fictional work and its viewers or readers. "he breaks the fourth wall by having Sam refer to the script and the play he's acting in"
That's cute, what makes it annoying for this group?
No, there's nothing wrong with it, in moderation. Say if you're "partially In character", it's fine. SOMETIMES.
In RP, you're supposed to act as if there IS no other universe, and act as if you've never seen the movie, read the book or even knew you had your own book. This is when it becomes a bit of a nuisance. You are NOT a mind reader. You are not a fortune teller, and no, you did not read the book and then step into your television set that is our RP area.
**EDIT** Yes, certain characters are an exception. Pre-existing characters are allowed to do it if that is what they're widely known to do. OCs are currently restricted.
